An excellent tiny knife that you can carry all the time, and it won’t wear a hole in your pocket. It is very flat and thin, which lets it sit in your pocket without creating a buldge. At just under 2″ in length, the knife is within the security regulations of the federal building I work in (but not the airport security line!). If this is an advantage to you, be sure to check your building’s regulations on blades in the office. This is an excellent gift because everybody could use one but nobody has one.

3 Stars a screw loose
I love this little knife too, but after only two months of use (on a keychain) two of the screws had fallen out, so I am writing this review to let owners know that they may want to invest in a small torx screwdriver to use when periodically checking to see if the screws are adequately tightened.

I am currently e-mailing the company to see if they will resolve the issue by mailing me a couple of screws. Incidentally, benchmade sells a product called the “blue box” which has some of these bits collected in a little plastic box which acts as screwdriver itself. However, I suspect I will need two of them anyway since the screws need to be tightened on one side and held in place on the other. . .

We’ll see what happens.

4 Stars Great little keychain knife
I am a big fan of Benchmade’s products in general. I own a Griptilian and a Vex, and they are all great knives.

My only complaint on this knife is over a rust issue. I had one that I had to send back to Benchmade because of some rust around the blade pivot, and on the lock side. It didn’t affect the functioning of the knife, but it is something that I feel shouldn’t have happened. What offsets this is Benchmade’s awesome warranty. I sent it back in and they sent me a new one pronto. I would recommend this knife if you are looking for something to hang on your keychain, or just a very small pocket knife.

4 Stars Great Pocket/keychain knife
Found this great little gem while looking for tools to add to my Every Day Carry. I hooked it straight on my keychain and it has been there for 3 weeks. So far i have used it during my work whenever I needed a knife. We open a lot of boxes a couple of times a week and we cannot always find the boxcutter immediatly. This knife already saved me a lot of time searching for boxcutters. It also saved a camping trip and some minor other thing. To me it has became quite a valuable tool.

The quality of the knife is quite good. It is not completely stainless. There are some small stains on the blade. But it doesnt rust (yet).

The great thing about thing that did it for me is that the blade lock when it is closed as well as being open. So it is pretty safe around small kids too.

The knife is the size of car key when folded. I added a fenix e01 led flashlight. And they fit together nicely without making the keychain too bulky.

Conclusion

Al tough it is smaller then your average pocket knife it packs a punch and it hasnt disappointed me. It can match up to the quality pocket knives in quality. Not in versatility. But it makes up for it due to the small size. You wont know it is there until you need it.

3 Stars Excellent Cutter – 2 Hands to Open
This is an excellent small knife that’s still robust enough for a lot of cutting tasks. Unfortunately, it takes too many actions to open. You have to squeeze the handle with one hand and pull the blade out with the other. With practice you may be able to squeeze and flick the blade open, but it’s so small and light, this is not a reliable manner of opening.

The knife is a great value but would recommend Spyderco Cricket or Kershaw Chive first.

The Benchmade 522 series has a 440C blade (partially serrated). The drop point blade featured ambidextrous thumb-studs. The handles are textured Noryl GTX (tough and lightweight!) over a steel frame. The 522 line has the AXIS lock system which makes the knife easier (and faster) to open and close. The pocket clip can be reversed for right or left handers. Over all this is an excellent knife with a good fell and weight- something you could trust your life with.
