People find themselves thinking that they need to purchase a gun for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes even people that were staunchly against gun ownership might have a situation develop in their life that changes their mind. There are definitely some people in some circumstances that do need one. A lot of those that are against guns steadfastly might disagree, but perhaps some of those people have never been faced with a situation where one was needed.

It is easy to understand how people that have been the victim of a gun holdup or shooting themselves might believe that guns should be banned. If you ask someone who was able to shoot an intruder in their home or successfully defended themselves with a firearm in another desperate situation about giving up their gun, they are likely to flat out tell you they would not give up their gun. It just goes back to question is there an answer that will suit everyone?

If you were going to be traveling by car, whether it was day or night, whether you were alone or with your family, do you think you would be saver with a gun locked in your glove box or not have one at all? If you were to break down on the roadside and you were a male or a female alone, how safe would you feel on a dark deserted road with no protection? A lot of women and men alike would not think of traveling alone without a gun for protection.

Regardless of what those that are against owning guns have to say, there are so many others that believe there are certainly times when it would be wise to have one, but with owning a gun comes a big responsibility. Using it for safety is one thing, but protecting others from it is just as important. A person has to know how to handle their firearm, store it and care for it properly. There will always be those that oppose gun ownership and there will always be those believe they really need to have them. When people debate the subject they have to agree on two things. There have been some really bad things that were prevented because the good guys had guns, but there have also been times when the bad guys did some really bad things because they had guns.
