4 Stars Cold Steel GI Tanto Knife
Very practical, impressive and sturdy blade. The Tanto point is made to penetrate armor. For the price this blade is DEFINITELY worth it and a great buy. An awesome blade to keep in your tool box, car, or boat for whenever you need a something more than the swiss army knife. However, a partially serated blade is better to cut rope with.

The Best feature of this knife is that it is full tang with quillons (finger guards) and made of 1055 carbon steel with one piece. The blade is also coated for rust prevention.

1055 is medium grade steel, meaning it is strong and hard, but not the best for blade to blade combat (go with 1085 steel for that). But 1055 is still better than the 440, AUS-8, and 420J Stainless steel knives The J is Junk in steel for knives. If I could afford more, I would go with the Kabar Tanto, and the Kabar has a butt which you can use as a hammer.

You can lash this to a broom stick and make a good spear. Unfortunately the handle is plastic but that’s what you get at this price. Although this tanto point design is okay, it would be better if the point met the spine, and not tapered. This design makes a weaker point. Don’t get me wrong… this is a very effective knife, and I’d rather have this knife over a lot other knives. It has a good feel, but the grip could have been made a little more ergonomic and comfortable. Most Definitely, this is a KNIFE! This knife can slash through a slab of meat and a good thrust with it can penetrate meat and the blade will go through until it hits the handguard.

4 Stars 20.00??? A great hunk of steel.
I’m a bit partial to Cold Steel so this may be biased. It’ll be short none the less. Simply put, Cold Steel knives are about as max bang for the buck as there is out there and this blade is a quintessential example. Perfect camping knife to hang on your belt. The tanto tip makes this blade a brilliant cutter and the rest of it is weighted nicely. I can’t imagine anyone spending the $$ and regretting it. Great all purpose blade. Btw, it’s large. It’s a Rambo knife without the compass and survival kit. So if you need a band-aid, pack one in your pocket ffs.
